Methodology

How this site works

This site is TerraNova Capital Partners’ own lender intelligence, opened up. Every one of the 1,557 active lenders is compiled from public and licensed sources, scored against your deal on its published facts, and carries a confidence rating so you can judge it before you rely on it.

Where the data comes from

We compile business information that lenders and their teams make public. We don't buy consumer data, and we don't scrape gated sources.

Lender websites & materials

Public fund pages, strategy descriptions, and disclosed check-size ranges.

LinkedIn & team pages

Deal-team roles — heads of origination, credit partners, structured-finance MDs — not founders or IR.

SEC EDGAR filings

Form D and related filings for fund closes and offering sizes, pulled directly from the SEC.

News & press

Recent deal announcements and fund raises via public news feeds, attached to each fund with a source link.

TerraNova Capital Partners

A working structured-finance team's experience informs which lenders are researched and kept current — public facts only, never a client's private deal terms. It does not change any fund's match score or its place in your results.

Hard gates first

Before anything is ranked, every fund is checked against what a lender cannot flex: deal size, and the structure, sector and geography you pick. Each fund lands in one of three piles. Results list In range funds first, then Stretch funds with the reason on each row. Out funds are listed apart with the one criterion they fail.

Deal size

In range
Your amount sits inside the fund's minimum–maximum range.
Stretch
Your amount is within tolerance — at least half the fund's minimum and no more than 1.5× its maximum — or the range is estimated, only one end of it is published, or no range is published.
Out
Your amount is below half the minimum or above 1.5× the maximum.

Structure

In range
A structure you picked is a stated mandate.
Stretch
Only an adjacent structure is stated (unitranche for a senior ask, for example).
Out
Neither the structure nor an adjacent one is stated.

Sector

In range
A sector you picked is stated, or the fund is a generalist.
Stretch
Only an adjacent sector is stated, or the fund publishes no sectors.
Out
No stated sector matches or sits next to yours.

Geography

In range
A region you picked is stated, or the fund lends globally.
Stretch
Only a neighboring region is stated, the fund is regional and you asked for global, or it publishes no regions.
Out
No stated region matches or neighbors yours.

How matches are scored

Each fund gets a 0–100 match score: the share of the criteria you actually specified that the fund's published facts meet. 100 means every criterion is fully met. Unspecified filters neither inflate nor penalize a fund. An estimated check-size band (marked “~ (est.)”) never scores as strongly as a sourced one at the same good fit. A range marked “unconfirmed” is on file but not yet tied to a public source; it is scored like any other range. Where a lender has no confirmed check size, its page also shows what is typical: the median of the check sizes confirmed at both ends, taken over lenders of its type, or over all lenders when its type is not categorised or has fewer than 5 of them, with the number of lenders behind it. It is left off when the figure on file for that lender sits wholly outside the typical range. That figure describes the group, not the lender, and it plays no part in matching. Nothing else moves the score or the order: no business relationship with TerraNova Capital Partners changes a fund's score or where it ranks.

Deal size fit
Always counts — how well your amount fits the fund's check-size range. Among funds that bracket your amount, tighter books rank higher: a lender whose range is built around your size outranks a megafund that merely spans it (the megafund stays listed, just lower). Where a fund doesn't disclose a range, we model an estimate from its AUM or comparable lenders: it's marked "~ (est.)" everywhere it appears, its influence is deliberately damped — an estimate never scores as strongly as a sourced range at the same good fit — and it's replaced the moment a sourced or lender-confirmed figure lands.
Deal type
Only when you specify a structure (senior, unitranche, mezz…). Exact match scores full; adjacent types score partial.
Sector
Only when you specify a sector. Exact, generalist, and related sectors score on a sliding scale.
Geography
Only when you specify a region. Exact, global, and adjacent regions score partial.
Borrower size
Only when you specify an EBITDA band and the fund publishes one. Sparse — a missing band never penalizes a fund.
Tiesorder only
When two funds have the same fit, a fund whose check size is confirmed on its own website or in a filing ranks ahead of one with an unconfirmed range, then the book centred on your amount, then the more specific published mandate (a sector specialist over a catch-all), research confidence, a mandate checked in the last 90 days, an available teaser, a published close of 30 days or less, and the most recent update. Anything still tied is fixed by a stable hash of the fund's URL, never its name. These never change the match score (0–100).

Confidence & freshness

Every fund carries a research-confidence score of 1–5 and, where we have it, the date its profile was last researched or updated — both shown on the fund page. Neither is a lender's sign-off: a profile the lender has confirmed says so in its own words.

How often it updates

An automated pipeline runs daily — pulling news, checking SEC filings, and extracting facts about fund closes and check sizes. Some proposed changes are applied automatically — by fixed rules for SEC filings and lender websites, and by an AI reviewer for high-confidence items. Everything else lands in a “Needs Review” queue for the team to approve or reject.

The honest fine print

Profiles and contact information are compiled from public and licensed sources and TerraNova Capital Partners' own research. They are not provided or endorsed by the funds, and accuracy is not guaranteed. AI-assisted deal parsing and matching are for guidance only — verify outputs before you act on them.
